I am a southern girl and love comfort food but it has to have that oomph for me to really give it 5 stars and this recipe surpassed my expectations. I cooked the stew in my slow cooker which also sautéed the meat so I think I got a great jump on the flavor there, then I cooked it as written. DELICIOUS!5 stars
